Membergate reminder: avoid chosing “download file” when you meant “upload file”
Even the most experienced membership site owner can occasionally choose “download” when they mean “upload,” as I recently did.
Last week, I was preparing audience handouts and special bonus files for participants in an upcoming Write Your Way to Success presentation I was delivering at the National Guild of Hypnotists convention in Marlborough, MA. I created a hidden public landing page for the event at Published & Profitable, uploaded files through Membergate’s Download area of the control Panel, and created link to the files.
Luckily, though, I asked Maria G. Nozza, who helped me create my site, to check my work. It’s a good thing I had.
In my haste, I had added the files as downloads, which meant they were only available to signed-in members. So, all my work was in vain!
What I should have done, of course, was to select Upload Files from the Utilities section of the Membergate control panel. Then, the files would have been freely available.
Takeaway
Always have someone else check your work! It’s too easy for simple, “obvious,” mistakes to sneak in and sabotage your work.
