How membership site owners can schedule future blog postings, and change the date of existing postings, using WordPress 2.5
Filed Under Blogging tips
With the release of the latest version of WordPress, Version 2.5, it becomes even easier for membership site owners to schedule blog postings in advance or “back date” posts to appear like the blog has been set up for a long time. Scheduling future blog posts leverages your time; back-dating posts can add credibility to your blog.
Scheduling future posts
To schedule a post to appear at a later date using the latest version of WordPress:
- “Save” the post.
- In the Publish Status area at the right of the WordPress screen, select Edit.
- Enter the desired month, date, year, and time in place of the default information.
- Press the “Publish” button.
The post will automatically appear at the desired time. The “Schedule” feature is really valuable, because it is much easier to write 2 or 3 blog posts at one time, than it is to write 2 or 3 separate blog posts. Membership site owners can create a week’s worth of blog postings on a Saturday morning, for example, and forget about them–except for responding to comments during the week. The schedule feature is also great for keeping your blog active while traveling.
Back-dating existing posts
To change the date of existing posts, regardless whether you’ve just created them, or they’ve been up for a long time:
- Select Manage, followed by Posts
- Double-click the title of the desired post
- Select Edit at the right, in the Publish Status area
- Enter the desired month, date, year and time information
- Press the Publish button
“Back-dating” blog posts can enhance your adds to your blog’s credibility by giving it a past–especially important when launching blogs associated with new membership sites.
