Before identifying your 2008 goals and New Year’s Resolutions, take a moment to reflect on 2007. Look for important lessons that can help you plan for a more successful 2008. Ask yourself questions like:

  • Accomplishments. Did I accomplish everything I had hoped to during 2007? What were my specific membership site accomplishments during 2007 in terms of members gain, prospect sign-up’s, or profits?
  • Obstacles. What held back my success during 2007? What opportunities was I unable to capitalize on? What skills would have helped me achieve more success during 2007?
  • Planning and profits. Did I miss any important deadlines? Did I spend enough time planning and working on my back-end, or member up-sell, profits?

Then, translate your answers to the above into your goals for 2008

For example:

  • Goals. What are my 2008 goals for my membership site? Specify goals as concretely as possible, such as membership goals per week or prospects added each month to your permission marketing list.
  • Tasks. What are the specific tasks I must accomplish in order to achieve the above goals? What do I need to learn how to do more effectively? Or, where can I obtain a new perspective or required assistance?

Deadlines
Finally, set deadlines for each of the tasks needed to achieve your 2008 goals.

Goals won’t be accomplish themselves on their own. The only way to ensure that you will achieve your 2008 goals is to set deadlines for the major tasks you need to accomplish. Deadlines will help you create a structure for consistently working towards a highly successful 2008.
